The little baby monkey was having an especially difficult day. Hungry and tired, the tiny baby stayed close to Mum, hoping she would allow nursing. Instead, Mum gently refused and moved away whenever the baby tried to feed. Confused and desperate, the little monkey began crying loudly.

Eventually, the baby settled down slightly and remained beside its mother. Even though it was still hungry and disappointed, being close to Mum seemed to provide some comfort. The touching scene showed just how challenging the transition away from nursing can be for a young monkey.

Yet weaning is a natural part of growing up, and mothers may gradually reduce nursing as their babies become more independent.
